QIRT TEACHERS CARE ABOUT THIER STUDENTS
Our school serves students in grades 9 to 12 in Far Rockaway, Queens, NYC. We are committed to enhancing our students’ academic experience by encouraging and learning through personal discovery.
QIRT earned the highest possible rating of “Excellent” in every single category in the NYC Dept. of Education School Snapshot (2020-2021).
Since 2008, we have partnered with a number of organizations and community members to help meet the diverse needs of our student body. These partnerships include Northwell Health, District Parent Advisory Council 27, City Council member Donovan Richards, Child Center of New York, the 101st precinct and the Queens District Attorney’s Office of Special Prosecution Services which provides mentoring and prevention Services.
We have been involved with the United Community Schools initiative since 2014. United Community Schools serves as a hub for the community, providing services that students and families would typically have to seek elsewhere. We provide students and families with a place to go as a one-stop service to meet their health, education, social and physical fitness needs.
Our school understands the importance of developing our students into future leaders. Many of our staff members recognized a need for a student-led organization. As a result,a few years ago we started a student council. This body is still evolving, but during the 2018-19 academic year, the organization was tasked with serving as the voice for the student population at the school and worked to ensure that student voice was encouraged and incorporated in the daily operation of the school.
